Spider-Man Comic Appearances for August 31, 2011

This week is...painful.  Economically painful as there are 27 comic books with a Spider-Man appearance released.

27.  Ouch.

Most of that volume comes from a New Avengers teaser story printed in the back of most Marvel Comics, and Spidey is in there.  Additionally, there were quite a few 2nd printings and several variant covers too.

Amazing Spider-Man #666 Fan Expo variant is now available

Because 142 variants just isn't quite enough, there's another new variant edition of Amazing Spider-Man #666.  This time around there is a variant cover illustrated by Steve Epting available at the Canadian Fan Expo.

Only 1,500 copies were printed and made available to attendees who pre-purchased the premium ticket package, which was sold out well before the event began.

The best place to find a copy now is on Ebay, but copies are going for upwards of $80-100.

But wait...there's more.

Keep your eyes open for a 2nd printing of Amazing Spider-Man #666 on its way to comic shops everywhere soon.

Marvel Comics and Williams-Sonoma have cooked up a new Spider-Man giveaway comic book

Spider-Man and the Avengers #1 is a new Marvel giveaway comic book available in-store from Williams-Sonoma.  The 12-page comic was created to generate awareness for Share Our Strength, a charitable organization aiming to end childhood hunger.

Written by C.B. Cebulski and artist Todd Nauck, the issue features appearances by Spider-Man, Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Giant-Man, The Wasp and the Avenger's butler Jarvis.  The Frightful Four provides the villainy at a Share Our Strength cooking demonstration hosted by Jarvis.  The heroes unite to do what they do best.

To get a copy of the comic you must attend a cookie decorating demonstration featuring a new line of Marvel Comics inspired products.  Your local Williams-Sonoma stores are currently offering demos for $5.00.  The fee includes cookies and one copy of the Spider-Man and the Avengers #1 comic book.

How to get the Blister Amazing Spider-Man #666 store variant

With 142 variations of the Amazing Spider-Man #666 store variant program (not including the regular direct and newsstand versions), it's logical to believe that at least one of the issues will be hard to get.  So which one will it be?

From my experience it's the Blister.jp variant from a Japanese online ordering only website.  This one has folks pulling their hair out, because Blister WILL NOT ship to the U.S. -- only within Japan.  And most of us don't have friends or family in Japan that can order the book and send it back to America.

So what are you supposed to do.

Spider-Man Comic Appearances for August 3, 2011

This was a modest-sized week for Spider-Man comic appearances with 10 regular issues, second printings, variants and magazines.

The biggest news from the week seems to be in regards to Ultimate Fallout #4 and its introduction of the new Spider-Man.  While this is seemingly big news to most of the world -- or at least all of the 24-hour news services who crave anything to talk about -- I don't know how big it really is.
